The City of Monroe has achieved and excelled due to a commitment to involve and empower its citizens. The Mayor, City Administrator, and City Council encourage an open-door policy that allows citizens and local business owners the ability to address issues of personal importance directly with city officials.

The City of Monroe executive branch of government consists of the Mayor, who is elected, and a full time City Manager who handles the day to day operations of the city government. Our legislative branch consists of a City Council of eight elected members.

The City of Monroe owns and operates several public access television stations. These stations provide citizens and local businesses with information regarding current events, notification of all public meetings, job opportunities, and local advertising. The City also sponsors a weekly cable access show that keeps citizens informed about past achievement, present issues, and future plans for the City.

The City has also recently overhauled its website presence to include much more information and interactive opportunities for our citizens.  We've also expanded our internet presence to include such popular services as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Nixle.

Additionally, the Mayor, Administrator and Department Heads are regular guests on local radio call-in shows where they answer citizens concerns about specific issues. This direct contact and information provides the citizens unequaled access to the reasoning behind decisions made by the City.
